Decent rental, room to improve

I rented a car camping kit for a family trip. The cooler and camping table were really useful and in good condition. Shipping to Denver took 5 days, which was a bit slow, so plan ahead. Everything arrived clean, but the headlamp batteries were almost dead, so I had to replace those right away. Customer service was quick to respond when I asked about extending my rental, which was a plus. Overall, a convenient service, just a minor snag with the headlamp.

Saved money on my rental

I was looking for a backpacking set for 1 and checked out a few places. Arrive Outdoors had a pretty good price. I also managed to snag a 10% off code for my first rental, which made it even better. The gear came clean and ready to go. Felt like a solid deal for the quality of the sleeping bag and pad I got. Definitely worth it compared to buying everything.

Easy process, good gear

Rented a 3-season tent. It arrived quickly. Tent was clean. Setup was simple. Worked well for my trip. Returned it without issues.

Amazing ski trip! Will rent again!

Oh my goodness, I rented ski apparel and a waterproof jacket for my ski trip and it was fantastic! The quality was so good, way better than I expected for a rental. It fit perfectly and kept me super warm on the slopes. Returning it was a breeze too, just popped it back in the box. Seriously made my trip so much easier not having to buy all that expensive gear. I'm already planning my next rental for a summer hike!

Good camping trip gear

I rented a camping set for 2 for a weekend trip. Everything arrived on time, which was great since we were heading out right after work. The gear was in good shape, not brand new obviously but totally fine for camping. Setup was easy too. Made our little getaway much smoother.

Thinking of renting some hiking boots for a week-long trip. Does anyone know if they allow you to buy the boots after your rental, or do you always have to send them back?

L Laura Lindqvist 2 months ago

Sometimes they do, but it's usually on a case-by-case basis. You'd probably have to contact their support to ask about that specific pair when you're done.

I don't think that's a regular thing. They rent the gear, it's not like a try-before-you-buy program usually. I've only ever returned stuff.

Hey, thinking about getting a camping kit for a trip to Yosemite next month. Does Arrive Outdoors actually ship to national park campgrounds, or do I need to get it delivered somewhere else?

N Nina Romero 2 months ago

Yeah, they do. I had a tent and sleeping bags sent directly to a KOA near Zion last summer. Just make sure to put the full address for the campground.

I think they can ship to some, but you probably need to check with Yosemite directly to see if they accept packages for campers. Might be safer to have it sent to a nearby hotel or a UPS store if they have one close by.

Is Arrive Outdoors legit? Saw some ads for them and the gear looks good, but never rented outdoor stuff online before. Just wanna make sure it's not some sketchy site.

L Lisa Y. 2 months ago

Totally legit. Rented from them a few times, never had an issue. Gear was always clean and good quality.

Yeah, they're good. Not a scam or anything. They've been around for a bit now, I think.

How quick are returns with Arrive Outdoors? If I send stuff back on a Monday, how long till they process it and I'm off the hook?

A Andre Whitfield 3 months ago

I just used their return label and dropped it at UPS. They sent me an email a few days later confirming it was all good. Super easy.

They usually give you a return label to stick on the box. Once you drop it off, the tracking starts, so you can usually see it moving. Don't remember exactly how long it took for them to confirm though, maybe a week max?

Anybody compare Arrive Outdoors to REI rentals? Is the quality about the same, or is one better than the other?

W Wendy Q. 2 months ago

I've rented from both. Arrive Outdoors tends to have newer, slightly higher-end gear, and it ships to you. REI is good too, but you have to pick it up and their selection can vary a lot by store.

Arrive Outdoors gear is usually really clean and well-maintained. REI is fine, but sometimes the stuff feels a bit more used, in my experience.

Do they offer any kind of student discount? Trying to save a few bucks on a backpacking pack.

M Marcus H. 2 months ago

I remember seeing something about that! Check their FAQ or maybe try a quick Google search for 'Arrive Outdoors student discount'.

R Renee Doyle 2 months ago

Yeah, they do. I think you usually have to verify your student status through some service, but it's definitely an option.

Has anyone used one of those first-time customer discounts? Trying to rent a bunch of ski gear for a weekend and wondering if it actually works on a bigger order.

P Paula B. 3 months ago

Yep, I got 10% off my first rental. It applied fine at checkout for a full backpacking setup. Definitely worth looking for one.

2

R Rosa 3 months ago

Pretty sure they do. I think new customer codes are usually 10-15% and they generally work for rental bookings, which ski gear would be.
